Did you know that the average yearly deaths as reported by the American lung association is only 1,266? AND 90% of those were either infants or elderly?

25% to 40% of H1N1 fatalities have been in 100% healthy young adults.

That is scary. It is also exactly what happened in 1918. Yes MOST people that catch H1N1 WILL recover just fine. Most people (98%) that caught the flu in 1918 recovered too. It was still the worst pandemic in the last century. It killed whole families. It killed more soldiers than any war EVER has. Think about that.

Take a look at the graphs here from the CDC. They know how bad this is and they are not telling us.

People are dying. Healthy teachers, pregnant women, moms, dads, students, toddlers, babies. KIDS ARE DYING BECAUSE PARENTS ARE NOT BEING TOLD THE TRUTH!

So tell me superintendent Dr. Joseph Barrow, did your mom give in and get you the jeans? If the other kids jump sir, will you jump too, taking your students, their parents, teachers, faculty and even your own child with you?

What about you dear reader? Will you jump?

A Ware County elementary school teacher suddenly passed away Friday after coming down with flu-like symptoms.

First grade teacher Delilah Thornton died at the age of 41. While the cause of her death is still unknown, many parents in Waycross are concerned about the possibility of the H1N1 virus infecting their schools.

But school officials say they’ve been working with the CDC and the health department to prevent the spread of the flu and they say parents should feel confident when leaving their kids at school.

“I’m here and my child is here,” said superintendent Dr. Joseph Barrow. “If I’m here and my child is here, don’t you think it’s going to be safe? A very strong message we want to send to our parents is that our children come first here.”

There have been confirmations of H1N1 in Ware County but Thornton’s cause of death is still unknown. She taught first grade in Waycross for 14 years.

H/T Pixie:

Sheridan Wilson’s fatal flu symptoms were ignored

Gavin King
http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,25934339-3102,00.html

A PREVIOUSLY healthy 34-year-old mother-of-two who died from swine flu last week was seen by four separate doctors over four days before she was finally admitted to hospital.

Her family say her deteriorating health – including difficulty walking – was mostly ignored as she was repeatedly sent home when seeking help for her illness.

Sheridan Wilson died in Brisbane’s Prince Charles Hospital on Thursday.

She had presented herself at Townsville Hospital’s emergency department a week earlier, saying she was in extreme discomfort from flu-like symptoms.

Doctors told Mrs Wilson to go home, take some Panadol and get some sleep, her family said.

She had no underlying health conditions and was not immediately tested for swine flu.

Nor was she given any of the anti-viral drug Tamiflu.

Mrs Wilson’s distraught family yesterday pleaded with Queensland Health to stop treating potential swine flu victims like “lumps of meat” and start taking the pandemic seriously.

They want Tamiflu offered to everyone with flu symptoms and not just those deemed by the department as being in the “at-risk” group which includes pregnant women, the elderly, the obese, indigenous people and those with other health problems.

[snip]

“Our family will never be the same again.”

Another adult has died after testing positive for swine flu this week, bringing the number of deaths in the West Midlands to eight.

Figures released yesterday showed a further 83 people were admitted to regional hospitals in the last seven days.

Nationwide, the number of confirmed deaths linked to the virus is now 44 – up eight in the last week.

[snip]

Across the UK there had been an increase in the proportion of deaths among people who were previously healthy.

Of the eight deaths confirmed in the last week, five were among previously healthy people, new statistics revealed.

A 26-year old Martha’s Vineyard resident who died August 14 is the first confirmed H1N1-related death on the Island, and the 11th death in Massachusetts, according to state public health officials.

The man, Elton Barbosa of Oak Bluffs, died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after he was transported off the Island earlier last week. He was a native of Brazil and worked on the Island as a painter, according to several acquaintances.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) confirmed the H1N1-related death on Monday. In a press release, DPH said the victim had no known underlying health conditions, but released no other information about the case. “Every death from flu is tragic, but it is even more so when it involves a young person,” said DPH Commissioner John Auerbach. “This case is also a reminder of how serious influenza can be, and why we are focused so intently on preparations for the upcoming flu season.”

Health officials: don’t panic over H1N1 flu death

Wyoming’s first death from H1N1 flu on Aug. 19 is not a reason to panic, according to Natrona County Health Officer Dr. Mark Dowell.

[snip]

The 21-year-old Fremont County woman who died at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper had severe H1N1 flu that was complicated by pneumonia.
“I’m in the southeast; One of my patients is a respiratory therapist at a local regional med center; he told me last week that 1) they are out of vents, 2) they’ve been given triage instructions by CDC for use of vents and o2 therapy, and, most worrisome, 3) their ER is seeing a patient every four minutes, 2-3 times their typical intake rate. H1N1 is here and growing.
BEWARE and BE Careful.

The Respiratory therapist tells me that they are sending people out to smaller hospitals that still have “vent space” in their ICUs; but he says that they expect to run out of referral sites early this week. Then, he tells me, they are going to start using the aforementioned triage guidelines. VERY VERY worrisome !! I’m hearing estimates that we, the US, have only about 10% of the vents we are going to need at peak flu season. This is going to get very bad I’m afraid.
BTW: the flu tracker site shows Tennessee at #2 with ~8300 cases, just after Texas with ~8700. We need to start seeing leadership from government in terms of shutting down large gatherings, etc. However, I am not hopeful that anything will be done until its too late. Thats one of the flaws in the human genome (i.e. denial and excessive optimism).
This is the 2nd person in the last week or so that I am aware of in the area who was in their early 30′s, ended up on a ventilator and died. The first did not make any news reports. This is not a metropolitan area.H1N1 Possibly The Cause For Claiming The Life Of Lawrenceburg WomanA week-long bout with the H1N1 (swine flu) virus may have proved fatal for a Lawrenceburg woman Wednesday.

Mitizi Ratliff Littrell, 33, succumbed to the sickness according to family members while a patient at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

Family members indicate that Littrell, wife of Baptist Minister Chris Littrell, mother of two, and Teaching Assistant in the Computer Lab at Ingram Sowell Elementary School, became ill last week. While doctors had at first believed her illness to be the result of a sinus-related problem, she was hospitalized Friday after passing out. Littrell was summarily transported to Nashville for more advanced treatment.

Doctors chemically induced a coma and implemented experimental treatments, however they were unable to cure her of the suspected illness.

Final results should be in by the end of the week.

“…I am putting this on here more as a warning to people than as information. My brother passed away last week after 4 days on a ventilator. He is *name*, and while he didn’t post much he read every word.

He crashed very suddenly and went to the hospital. In a few days he was dead. He had all the flu tests which were negative, but his lungs were a white out and with the ventilator on 100% his lungs could not sustain life. He went into multiple system failure.

This is a quote from [another] thread about his flu: Prayers here. Our friend who just passed from similar symptoms did not test positive for H1N1, so there are other things going around which look like it but aren’t.

So speed to medical care is VERY IMPORTANT. And the pulmonolgists still don’t know what killed him. They did a bronchoscopy and took sputum and tissue samples for cultures. NOTHING GREW OUT!!

His daughter works ER in *city*. I am a Respiratory Therapist. Neither of us have a clue as to what happened. Was it a flu or something even more ominous? We will probably never know…”

Comment: It is speculated at PFI and by medical professionals that H1N1 has mutated to such an extent that the tests are no longer able to identify it. The flu tests are also notoriously unreliable, even the CDC admits this)

I’m a regular poster here, but I registered another name for anonymity. As a physician, I felt that the docs in my system should be informed of the inaccuracy of testing, so I sent the CDC’s study of rapid flu swabs by email system-wide. Within 10 minutes I had a call from corporate telling me NOT to do that. I also had a call from one of the ER physicians thanking me for that information, since he had suspected it but had no confirmation. Mostly, however, providers are testing and saying, “oh, it’s negative!” as if that means anything.

This is exactly what happened to my family this week. Negative flu test on Monday, so the doc said it’s just a virus he’s been seeing, with 5 days of fever and a cough. (In September? I think not.) Two days later, upon worsening symptoms, the doc says cases in his practice are “exploding”, and that they’re all H1N1 with very similar symptoms… therefore, assuming it is H1N1 after all. Even though he was fully aware of the possibility of false negatives, I don’t think he’d think there was going to be THAT many, and that it would hit everything THAT fast. But he quotes CDC info, even sends us links to the CDC website. If THEY said, “watch out”, he would watch out. And the Tamiflu could have started within the 48 hour window… but now it’s too late…

“MY nephew is fighting for his life.

He went to a social gathering/cookout two weeks ago Sunday. Within two days 21 out of 25 of those attending came down with flu like symptoms. His wife and daughter got sick one day after. He got sick a day later.

37 years old, healthy, no underlying conditions and in excellent physical and cardiovascular condition. Initial symptoms were nausea, vomiting followed by diarhea adn a fever of 104.

He allowed himself to become dehydrated and took nothing other than tylenol to manage his fever. After three days he was admitted to the hospital and immediately put on IV and given the first round of Tamiflu.

He evidently had a severe reaction to the tamiflu and exhibited a severe case of all of the side effects of Tamiflu. His condition worsened dramatically.

The doctors diagnosed him with a severe case of viral infection. He was given a round of antibiotics. He soon began to develop pneumonia. He developed acute hepatittis. HIs liver function is comprised enough to be considered a possible transplant patient. He has been moved to a hospital that can offer access to a liver specialist.

Tests so far indicate no cancer; he is beginning to show signs of congestive heart failure as well.

If any one can offer suggestions, I will pass them along to his health care providers.

This is some scary stuff.”

Or maybe it will be your grandchild, niece or nephew. Maybe it will be the neighbor boy that mows your lawn or the little girl you bought the girl scout cookies from. Maybe it will be the football player that your daughter is so enamoured with this month.

What am I talking about?

H1N1, better known as swine flu is killing many more healthy young people than any seasonal flu could ever hope to.

Why?

Because it is a novel flu strain that no one is immune to, so everyone is susceptible to it.

But, flu only kills the very young, the very old or those with major health problems right?

Your right if your are talking about regular seasonal flu. H1N1 is NOT just like regular seasonal flu. No one is immune, and it attacks younger people with much more frequency than the old or young. It attacks people with ‘minor’ health conditions such as asthma even if it is well controlled, the same with diabetes and many others. H1N1 can and does cause what is called a cytokine storm in 100% healthy people, even children. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytokine_storm

What should I do?

First of all DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! Research it yourself. I could sit here and type for days and never convince you. I have based my own opinions on information I have found, but they are just that, my opinions. You must form your own, but I beg of you please inform yourselves.

Here are two links to get you started.

http://66.236.6.194:8888/

Why am I blogging about this?

Look at the list just below. These children that did not have to die are the reason. Please, please, please inform yourself so that your child, grandchild, niece or nephew, or any other child will not be added to the list. I pray for their families and yours.
